New Workshop week 14, from 4 April to
8 April 2011. |

We are planning
a new heater-workshop. With 7 or 8 participants we are going
to build a heater with a heated bench and a furnace with
bake oven. We’ll start on Monday and hope to make the first
little fire together on Friday.
Participants will be constantly guided by two or three
skilled heater builders.
The workshop-location is in Silvolde, near Doetinchem,
Netherlands.
Information about the planned heaters:
During this workshop we will be building two heater models
made of pre-cut refractory bricks. |

Heater 1: the Tupla Lauri- is a “tunnel-hearth” H 260 x W 120
x D 90 cm. will be made with refractory and adobe bricks, and will
be plastered with loam. In the heater we’ll place a heat exchanger.
This heater will be connected to the chimney by a heated bench L 180
x H 50 x D 40 cm. Behind the bench we are making a separation wall
of adobe bricks between the scullery and the living room.
This heater gets a fireplace-door with glass in the living room, and
at the scullery side a closed cast iron door. |

Heater 2: the Hemmo-furnace is H 92 x D 74 x W 124 cm and
weights 1300 kg. This heater with bake-oven will get a central
location in the kitchen. Materials: refractory and ordinary bricks
and stucco.

Programma:
We like to start early at 08 o’clock. We are planning two
coffee/tea brakes, a lunch and an evening meal. There will be time
enough to ask questions or discuss individual projects. |

We think about two
evening-presentations: about heater building and heating
with wood. The workshop starts with an acquaintance on
Monday 4 April 08 o’clock and will probably end on Friday 8
April around 13 o’clock.

For whom:
This heater-workshop is meant for everyone who is interested in
masonry heaters, or has plans to build one. We will try to show all
aspects of the construction of masonry heaters.
Subjects like: foundation, insulation, working with the
tools/machines, reading drawings, materials. |

participants will be able to build their own heater after

Meals and care:
On the ground there is a possibility to camp (campers/tent).
The camper can use toilet and shower.
The costs of care and meals will be announced later.

Clothing:
Please bring your own work clothes and work shoes. And if
you want and have, your favourites masonry tools.
Participation to the workshop is at your own risk.
