How a finnoven works. Massive stone heaters, also known as finnovens, work using the counter-flow-principle. This principle, developed in Finland, leads the hot gasses with temperatures of approximately 1000ºC from the fire core through counter-flow-canals down to floor-level. On their way from top to bottom they transfer their warmth. After that they exit through the chimney. An economic and environment-friendly system. The stone mass of adobe-heaters, soapstone-heaters and finnovens has a large capacity to store heat. Because of these warmth-accumulation qualities you only need to make a fire for a short while to produce enough radiation-warmth for a day. |
